Maintenance

The Maintenance Department currently has 20 full-time employees who work out of the Centerville Road location. The Collection Operators are responsible for operating and maintaining the collection system, which consists of approximately 790 miles of sewer pipelines, sewer laterals, and 14,178 manholes. Collection system operation and maintenance includes televising, inspecting, cleaning, and flushing sewer lines; maintenance of pump stations; and general maintenance of vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds. The Mechanics maintain 45 pumping stations as well as all treatment facility equipment. The Inspectors insure proper connections to the sewer system in accordance with the Authority’s Rules and Regulations. Additionally, maintenance department employees respond to nearly 650 utility location requests (PA One Calls) per month, and handle inflow and infiltration duties using portable and permanent meters to monitor flow throughout the sewer system
